WASHINGTON, D.C.—Lisa A. Rickard, president of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, made the following statement after Louisiana House passage today of House Bill 618 and Senate Bill 555 that would limit abusive lawsuits against oil and gas drillers. The bills now await Governor Bobby Jindal’s signature.
“The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform proudly supports these bills, which will eliminate loopholes in current Louisiana law that allow these abusive lawsuits. We urge Governor Jindal to promptly sign the bills, because Louisiana must put American jobs and affordable energy before plaintiffs’ lawyer profits.”
