WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) today presented Florida state Senator John Thrasher with the 2010 State Legislative Achievement Award for his outstanding championing of legal reform issues.

Senator Thrasher, along with state Representative Eric Eisnaugle, spearheaded the fight for enactment of Florida’s Transparency in Private Attorney Contracting Act, which requires disclosure of any contingency fee agreements with outside law firms initiated by the attorney general of the state of Florida.

“This law should serve as a model for other states considering similar legislation,” said ILR President Lisa Rickard.  “Senator Thrasher and Representative Eisnaugle are to be commended for their initiative on this important legislation and their efforts to build trust in state government.”

Senator Thrasher was recognized at ILR’s 11th Annual Legal Reform Summit, which brought together the nation’s leading legal reform experts to discuss the problems in the civil justice system and solutions to fix them.

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.
