More than 70 percent of Pelican State residents do not support diverting money from coastal erosion lawsuits away from efforts to restore Louisiana’s coastline.
Unfortunately, state lawmakers are debating a handful of bills that would do exactly what Louisianans don’t want them to do.
Between March 30th and April 29th, the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform asked nearly 1,500 Louisianans to weigh in on this issue. Here’s what they said:
Louisiana lawmakers should listen to their constituents. They should oppose the bills being foisted on them by self-interested plaintiffs’ lawyers, and any legislation that would take money away from coastal restoration for unrelated projects and special interests.
