• Business Groups Push to Reform Illinois False Claims Act: Between July 2014 and September 2015, a single Chicago attorney filed more than 500 Illinois False Claims Act suits in Cook County Circuit Court against out-of-state liquor sellers, 201 of which were dismissed by a judge. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce and other local business groups, are pushing for reform of the law, which “has made it easy to bring claims to court that often end in settlements despite their lack of merit.” (Madison-St. Clair Record)
