WASHINGTON, D.C.— The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) today presented the 2010 Alliance Award to the Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC) for its contribution to the legal reform movement in the state of California.
“Under the leadership of its long-time president John Sullivan, CJAC has had numerous successes in promoting a legal reform agenda in California’s legislature, courts and local communities,” said ILR President Lisa Rickard. “In the 2009 and 2010 legislative sessions, every bill sponsored by the plaintiffs’ bar and opposed by CJAC was defeated in the legislature or vetoed by the governor.”
She also praised CJAC’s amicus program that has produced briefs which have helped achieve successes beyond the borders of California.
John Sullivan received the award on behalf of CJAC at ILR’s 11th Annual Legal Reform Summit, which brought together the nation’s leading legal reform experts to discuss the problems in the civil justice system and solutions to fix them.
ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.
