West Virginia House Moves Forward on Supreme Court Impeachments

The West Virginia House of Delegates voted to impeach all four sitting state Supreme Court justices yesterday, WV Public Broadcasting reports.

Chief Justice Margaret Workman and Justices Robin Davis, Allen Loughry, and Beth Walker were impeached for lack of administrative oversight. Workman, Davis, and Loughry were impeached for authorizing the overpayment of senior judges. Davis and Loughry were impeached for lavish spending. Loughry, who was also recently indicted on 23 federal charges including fraud and witness tampering, was also impeached for improperly using state resources.

The justices will now stand trial in the Senate, where they may be removed from office.
