West Virginia House Judiciary Committee Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against All Sitting State Supreme Court Justices

Members of the West Virginia House Judiciary Committee introduced articles of impeachment against all four sitting state Supreme Court justices, the West Virginia Gazette Mail reports.

The move comes on the eighth day of committee hearings on how the court spent taxpayer dollars. Just yesterday, state lawmakers toured the Supreme Court offices and saw evidence that multiple chief justices may have authorized polices that led to the falsifying of documents. The articles target the four sitting justices, one of which was recently indicted on 23 federal charges, including fraud. Justice Menis Ketchum was not named in the articles because he has already resigned after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

The 14 articles of impeachment detail specific violations from the judges, including using public vehicles for personal use, overpaying senior judges, “unnecessary and lavish spending,” and more.
