The trusts set up by Congress to help asbestos victims once had $30 billion dollars, but that money is fast dwindling.
ILR’s latest Faces of Lawsuit Abuse video shows how those trusts have been racked by fraudulent claims and features an interview with former Washington State attorney general Rob McKenna, who describes how the Furthering Asbestos Claims Transparency (FACT Act) would deter fraud by making public some trust claims data — while protecting the privacy of asbestos claimants.
