U.S. Chamber Letter Urges Congress To Include Liability Protections As Part Of Phase Four COVID Bill

Yesterday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to congressional leaders urging swift action to combat the coronavirus pandemic and provide economic relief to families, businesses and communities across the country. The Chamber’s letter urged Congress to enact targeted and temporary measures that address five key areas, including liability protection against unwarranted lawsuits. The letter urged Congress to pass timely, temporary and targeted liability relief for employers who follow public safety guidelines.

The pandemic and resulting economic downturn have slammed businesses and now employers are confronting the possibility of unwarranted lawsuits related to COVID that will affect their ability to recover. Timely, temporary and targeted liability relief will help protect employers, healthcare providers, non-profits and educational institutions who make good-faith efforts to follow applicable public health guidelines.
