Trial Lawyers “Driving A Culture of Litigation” In Louisiana

U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) Chief Operating Officer Harold Kim told WWL Radio that trial lawyers are “driving a culture of litigation” in Louisiana, which led to the state’s new Lawsuit Climate Survey ranking of 49.

Kim said that the state’s legal system is impacting the state’s insurance rates, which are among the highest in the country, and is creating “a pretty hostile territory for businesses to operate.” He also noted that the state’s energy industry, its largest employer “is under complete assault” by private lawyers suing on behalf of local politicians.

The 2019 Lawsuit Climate Survey: Ranking The States was released yesterday at an event in Florida.
