The Food and Beverage Industry Is an Emerging “Target” for Class Action Litigation

The number of class action cases filed against food and beverage companies continues to surge, writes Food Navigator-USA.

Citing ILR’s recent report, The Food Court: Trends in Food and Beverage Class Action Litigation, the article states that last year alone class actions against food and beverage companies reached a “staggering” 170, compared to a mere 20 cases in 2008 – a 750% increase.

ILR’s Harold Kim explains how the Fairness in Class Action Litigation and Furthering Asbestos Claims Transparency Act of 2017 (FICALA/FACT) could help stop this excessive litigating by giving consumers greater equity in the proceeds from lawsuits, and by ensuring that consumers are fully compensated before lawyers collect their fees.
