Securities Class-Action Settlements Surge in 2015

Cornerstone Research issued its latest annual report showing the number and average size of securities class-action settlements increased in 2015 by more than $3 billion as compared to 2014.

Cornerstone attributes the increase in settlements to three consecutive year-over-year increases in case filings. In addition, the study notes that more of those cases were larger in 2015, leading to eight “mega” settlements (of $100 million or more).
