Professor: Class Attorneys Have “Little Incentive” to Help Members Recover Since They’ve Been Paid

A University of Georgia School of Law Professor told Law360 the attorneys in the NFL concussion litigation now have “little incentive to see that the claims administration process proceeds quickly” for class members now that the attorneys have been awarded fees.

The settlement has come under fire from class members for being slow and unnecessarily difficult. One class member started a petition to “take back” the settlement after learning that over 200 claims were denied. Lead class attorneys have already been awarded $112.5 million dollars in fees and costs for their work on the case.
