President-Elect Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee Coming Soon

President-elect Donald Trump said during a press conference yesterday that he plans to announce a Supreme Court nomination within two weeks of his January 20th inauguration.

Trump said the nomination is a “top priority,” according to the National Law Journal. Contenders for the seat has focused mainly on federal appeals court judges William Pryor and Diane Sykes, among others.

Whomever is selected by President-elect Trump is expected to reshape the U.S. courts in a pro-business manner, specifically on issues including arbitration and class actions. As U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas J. Donahue highlighted in his State of American Business speech yesterday,  “when you talk to potential job creators, excessive litigation is one of the first things they mention that is holding them back” and there is “significant opportunity” in 2017 for necessary legal reform.
