Op-Ed: More Vigilance, But at What Price?

“The French Parliament is currently considering new legislation requiring all companies doing business in France to adopt plans minimizing the risk of human rights violations and environmental damage caused by the companies’ operations around the world,” writes ILR President Lisa A. Rickard in an op-ed in Les Echos (Paris, France). “Despite the well-meaning intentions, the legislation will have numerous unintended consequences and may in fact have the opposite of its desired effect.”
