Only Six Percent of Madison County, IL’s 2015 Asbestos Filings on Behalf of Illinois Residents; Only One Percent on Behalf of In-County Residents

An analysis of Madison County, IL court records finds that 1,224 asbestos cases were filed in the court in 2015, reports the Madison-St. Clair Record.

Only six percent of the cases were filed on behalf of Illinois residents, which is down from 2014, when 10 percent of the cases were filed by in-state residents.

Only six of the 1,224 total plaintiffs (less than one percent) were filed on behalf of Madison County residents, though 20 of the cases filed by Illinois residents do not state in which county the plaintiff lives.

The number of out-of-state and out-of-county plaintiffs continues the trend that ILR highlighted in its “Thanks, Madison County!” public awareness campaign over the past several years.
