Letter Says Proposed PFAS Law Could Threaten Medical Device Manufacturing
In a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives, the president and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association said medical device makers could be deterred from producing devices should PFAS chemicals be classified as hazardous, Legal Newsline reports.
Scott Whitaker said designating all PFAS chemicals as hazardous, including ones that have been found to be safe, could “threaten the ability of our members to continue to provide patients with life-saving devices.” An amendment passed in the National Defense Authorization Act included a provision that would classify PFAS chemicals as hazardous. The bill is currently in conference.
