Lawsuits From Private, Politically-Connected Lawyers “Not The Answer,” Local Group Says

The executive director of Louisiana Lawsuit Abuse Watch said lawsuits on behalf of state and local governments “involving private attorney campaign contributors who stand to reap the benefits are simply not the answer.”

Lana Venable was referring to the group of attorneys selected to represent the state in litigation against pharmaceutical manufacturers over their alleged role in the opioid crisis. Attorneys on the list come from 17 different law firms and include those who have donated to political campaigns and some who have held political office in the state before.
