“Lawsuit Abuse Threatens Manufacturing”

In a Pittsburgh Business Times op-ed, the president of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association said the state’s “trial lawyer-friendly environment allows frivolous litigation that costs all Pennsylvanians.”

David N. Taylor said frivolous litigation can “undermine our legal system and harm Pennsylvania families and our economy.” He pointed to Pennsylvania’s 37th ranking in ILR’s 2017 Lawsuit Climate Survey as evidence of a lawsuit system that is primed for abuse.

The longer Pennsylvania is “held hostage by frivolous and abusive litigation,” Taylor said, the “more we will see critical investments and good-paying jobs go elsewhere.”
