Kentucky Representatives Send Message Through Legal Reform

The Kentucky legislature has begun the process of passing needed legal reforms, but more are needed, write Lisa Rickard, ILR President, and Dave Adkisson, President of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, in the Kentucky New Era.

“Kentucky has an unprecedented opportunity to attract new business and create jobs, [but] this strong economic future is at risk if we don’t reform the legal system,” write Rickard and Adkisson.

The state senate recently passed a common sense bill to establish medical review panels. Other legal issues, such as sunshine to the state attorney general’s use of contingency-fee attorneys and the unusually high judgment interest rates in Kentucky, are “long overdue” for reform.
