Lisa A. Rickard, president of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) today made the following statement on the Judicial Hellholes report released today by the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA):
 
“We congratulate the American Tort Reform Association on the release of its annual Judicial Hellholes report. It plays an important role in the civil justice reform movement to spotlight problem jurisdictions around the nation.
 
“Public officials in perennial and emerging litigation hotspots should be concerned about the impact that poor legal climates have on their communities. America needs more jobs, not more lawsuits. As the country struggles to emerge from this current economic downturn, states should be focused on reforming costly litigation systems that hamper job creation, stifle innovation, and prevent businesses from growing.”

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.
