Judge Gives Final OK on $765M NFL Concussion Deal
Pennsylvania federal judge Anita B. Brody granted final approval of a $765 million settlement between the National Football League and about 5,000 former players for long-term neurologic injuries allegedly initiated during their playing days.
$75 million will be set aside for a “baseline assessment program” which provides health screenings to retired players, while another $10 million will be directed to an education and injury prevention program. Class members with the most serious qualifying injuries will receive payouts of up to $5 million.
