Federal appeals panel: Judge’s OK of class action vs Blue Cross amounted to unexplained ‘judicial fiat’: A federal court in Chicago has stripped class-action status that a previous judge had granted despite “glaring problems” with the case. The 7th Ciricuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision and said “complex certification decisions cannot be made by judicial fiat.” (Cook County Record)
