Litigation Risk Ebbs Even As Data Hacks Rise, Report Says: Law firm Bryan Cave released a report on data breach litigation, which found that data breach class actions went up by seven percent in 2016 over 2015, though the number of breaches that attracted litigation went down. (Law360)

Lawyer: Split decision in TCPA case involving Lakers leaves room for more litigation: Insurance contract attorney Kevin LaCroix said the Ninth Circuit’s recent decision Telephone Consumer Protection Act decision “leaves room for further argument that a future claimant could make.” The Los Angeles Lakers basketball team lost an insurance dispute last month, after the court ruled TCPA violations to be an automatic invasion of privacy, which insurers do not cover.
