The Oklahoman editorial board notes the state’s improved ranking (33rd) in the 2015 Lawsuit Climate rankings, writing, “Oklahoma is improving its national reputation regarding lawsuit issues at a time when such issues are growing in importance to businesses.” (The Oklahoman)

In a story noting U.S. House passage of, and the South Carolina congressional delegation’s votes on, the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act, ILR President Lisa A. Rickard is quoted. “This legislation would hold plaintiffs’ lawyers accountable for filing frivolous claims so they cannot simply withdraw a claim without consequence,” said Rickard. (Palmetto Business Daily)

The Illinois Retail Merchants Association is saying that confusion in an Illinois tax law has allowed plaintiffs’ lawyers to profit by suing under the state’s False Claims Act. The association claims its costing Illinois small business owners millions each year. (WCIA-TV Champaign, IL)
