The class action against Uber by drivers claiming to be employees, rather than independent contractors, could “break the company’s peer-to-peer structure — and the rest of the ‘gig’ economy.” So writes A.J. Legal reform was among the six legislative priorities released by the Louisiana Association of Business & Industry (LABI) on Friday. Specifically, LABI wants to address the “tendency for local government jurisdictions to file large lawsuits against private companies.” In addition, LABI called for lowering the threshold for jury trials, as the state currently has the highest threshold in the country.
