Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Cephalon Inc. are fighting back against the city of Chicago’s plans to “release materials it gathered from its investigation of opioid painkillers in order to try its case in the media, not to comply with Illinois’ Freedom of Information Act.” Janssen said the city’s position that it needs to disclose its investigative files in response to the FOIA request reflects a “strategy of litigating this case in the media rather than in court.” (National Law Journal)

Earlier this year, we posted about an Ecuador-hired PR firm using “phony paid protestors” to picket Chevron’s annual meeting. This week, it was revealed that the same PR firm paid more than $500,000 to the talent agencies of actors Mia Farrow and Danny Glover to reportedly “travel the country (Ecuador) and speak in support of the country’s legal and political battle” against Chevron.
