An editorial piece in The Wall Street Journal describes the 2010 Gulf Coast spill as “a disaster for local businesses and the environment but also the best thing ever to happen to the trial lawyers who continue to exploit the accident for fun and profit.” A recent “report by Special Master and former FBI director Louis Freeh,” has found that the integrity of the $7.8 billion settlement pool may have been compromised by “potential violations of ‘criminal statutes regarding fraud, money laundering, conspiracy or perjury’.” (Wall Street Journal)
