U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) President Lisa A. Rickard and Missouri Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dan Mehan co-wrote an op-ed in the Kansas City Star on the state of Missouri’s legal climate.

Rickard and Mehan said the state’s lawsuit climate ranked 49th shows “just how much damaged was caused” before Governor Eric Greitens took office this year. The new administration passed several reforms while the survey was being conducted, and the effect was not captured just yet.

Reforms to the state’s evidence standards and transparency requirements show the state is starting to turn things around. Rickard and Mehan say its efforts this year show it “clearly doesn’t intend to stay” at number 49.
