Ruling in Lynn v. Monarch Recovery Management last week, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals held that “calls made to a residential line using an autodialer can violate the TCPA if the residential line service charges for incoming calls.” In this particular case, the line was using a VoIP subscription that carried per-call charges. The World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes has awarded Exxon Mobil Corp. $1.6 billion in compensation for assets “nationalized” by Venezuela. According to the ICSID, Venezuela must compensate Exxon $1.4 billion for “expropriating its investments in the Cerro Negro project”, plus $9 million for “production and export curtailments” and $179 million for Exxon’s investments in the La Ceiba project.
