House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) told an audience at the U.S. Chamber’s Global IP Summit that he is working with incoming Senate leadership “to see patent legislation signed into law in the near future.” Incoming Senate Finance Chair Orrin Hatch (R-UT) seconded that call, noting that “abusive patent litigation costs our economy over $60 billion each year.” (The Daily Caller)

Videogame maker Activision Blizzard will pay $275 million in what is a record settlement in a derivative lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed by a shareholder who opposed the company’s 2013 deal to buy back its stock from Vivendi SA. (Reuters)
