  • Work of “Enforcement Maze” Speaker Highlighted: Illinois Business Daily reports on Southern Illinois University Law Professor Lucian Dervan’s presentation at today’s ILR/National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers event, The Enforcement Maze: Over-Criminalizing American Enterprise.  “A 2012 study he conducted found that when faced with false misdemeanor charges, more than 50 percent of defendants accepted plea bargains — admitting to the charges in exchange for a lenient sentence, even despite being innocent.” (Illinois Business Daily)
  • The Importance of the D.C. Circuit: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is set to “determine the fate of several important Obama administration initiatives” including the underlying structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. “The cases underscore the importance of the D.C. Circuit, which is frequently the venue for prominent challenges to federal regulations and enforcement actions.” (Wall Street Journal)
