North Carolina Asbestos Bill Passes the House Judiciary II Committee: Senate bill 470 was approved on a 6-4 party-line vote yesterday by the North Carolina House Judiciary II Committee. The measure, which passed the Senate 43-5 in April, would require plaintiffs to research and file claims with all potentially liability bankruptcy trust funds within the first 30 days of a civil suit. It would also require that the plaintiffs provide information about previous awards to the defendant. (WRAL.com)
