- WSJ Notes ILR Opposition to Third Party Litigation Funding: In an article spotlighting the growth of larger investors, such as pension funds, in third party litigation funding, the Wall Street Journal notes that, litigation funders have faced a few consistent opponents, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Legal Reform, which argues that it prompts unnecessary litigation. “It’s an industry that has absolutely no oversight anywhere in the world,” said ILR President Lisa A. - U.S. Senate Commerce Committee to Hold TCPA Reform Hearing: Attorney Becca Wahlquist, of counsel to ILR, said the purpose of next week’s U.S. Senate Commerce Committee hearing on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act “is to raise awareness … about how the TCPA has been abused by targeting business that are trying in good faith to reach their own customers.” (Palmetto Business Daily)
- AZ Governor Signs ILR-Supported Unclaimed Property Reform Bill: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey last week signed a bill that will “protect lost property in Arizona from being used as a revenue generator for both the state and aggressive contractors.” The article cites a letter sent by ILR’s Harold Kim to Gov. Ducey last week urging the governor to sign the legislation. (Arizona Business Daily)
