Florida Lawmakers Consider Whether to Follow Illinois, Open Lawsuit Floodgates: Legislation making its way through the Florida Senate would essentially create a copy of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Alfred J. Saikali, of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, points out that in Illinois, BIPA has been applied in a way that doesn’t take into account a true understanding of the relevant technology, though it has managed to create a good revenue stream for lawyers.
