Report Finds ADA Lawsuit Abuse Spiked in New York in 2017: A report from the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York found New York federal courts were home to the third-highest amount of Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuits in 2017. The report said “lawyers” and “serial plaintiffs” are abusing the law by filing “multiple suits at one time” with “boilerplate” language. (Lohud)

D.C. Circuit Decision Will Limit “Expansiveness” of Telephone Consumer Protection Act: A lawyer with McCarter & English said the recent D.C. Circuit decision will limit the scope of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and “afford business and industry additional tools to push back against unwarranted” lawsuits. Even still, she says some “[p]itfalls for business and industry remain” because of the plaintiff’s bar’s view of these lawsuits as “low-risk, high-reward work.” (Lexology)
