State Street Firms See Fees Slashed: The multi-year fight over the State Street securities litigation came to a close last week after a federal judge cut attorneys fees by $15 million for the three plaintiffs’ firms involved. The judge said the case “demonstrates that not all lawyers can be trusted when they are seeking millions of dollars in attorneys’ fees and face no real risk that the usual adversary process will expose misrepresentations that they make.” (Law360)

West Va. House Committee Considers Intermediate Appeal Court: A key state senator appeared before the West Virginia House Judiciary Committee to support the passage of a new bill to create a new intermediate court. The state’s senate passed this bill earlier this year. (The Intelligencer)
