On Thursday, the Florida Supreme Court struck down the state’s $1 million cap on medical malpractice awards, ruling it violated Florida’s equal protection law, Reuters reports. The decision “guts common-sense legal reform,” said ILR Executive Vice President Harold Kim, “and serves to make Florida’s already poor lawsuit climate even worse.”

New research from Cornerstone found that, for the first time, small mergers resulted in M&A litigation the same percentage as large mergers. Both drew suits in 94% of mergers. D & O Diary
