  • Challenge to Madison County Jurisdiction in Ford Case: The Illinois Supreme Court has ordered the Fifth District Appellate Court to hear Ford Motor Company’s appeal on a motion to dismiss a Madison County, IL asbestos case — Jeffs v Anco Insulations, Inc. — for “lack of personal jurisdiction.” In that case, the plaintiff alleges that the “decedent was exposed to asbestos-containing products through his work at various sites” but “was not exposed to any Ford product or facility in Illinois.” A ruling in favor of Ford “would significantly impede plaintiffs’ ability to forum shop in plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions such as Madison County.” (Lexology)
