  • NY Daily News: McDonnell SCOTUS Ruling Shouldn’t Impact Silver Conviction: The New York Daily News editorial board draws a distinction between the circumstances of the U.S. Supreme Court’s vacating the corruption convictions of former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, and the conviction of former New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Silver, “delivered state funds to a cancer doctor who in turn sent lucrative clients to Silver’s law firm” and was convicted for performing “such acts in exchange for personal benefit.” That “personal benefit” is what the Court said was not shown in the McDonnell convictions.
