General Motors has been hit with a $10 billion lawsuit claiming “millions of car and truck owners” should be compensated for “lost resale value” in the wake of recent GM recalls. The lawsuit claims the recalls have “caused a variety of late-model vehicles to lose roughly $500 to $2,600 in resale value.” (Reuters)
“The real problem is not that the Justice Department singles out foreign companies; it’s that the way it metes out corporate justice is so toothless, arbitrary and opaque,” writes the New York Times’ Jesse Eisinger in a story about European companies seeing a “double standard” in the U.S. prosecution of two large European banks.
