  • Two State AGs Walk Back Subpoenas, Admit Exxon Case Lacks Legal Basis:A Wall Street Journal editorial highlights the shifting battle ground between state AGs and Exxon Mobil as pushback against the AGs for encroaching on First Amendments rights has led some states to withdraw their subpoenas. The editorial notes Virgin Islands AG  Claude Walker recently withdrew his subpoena of Exxon Mobil while Massachusetts AG Maura Healey filed court documents declaring she won’t enforce her subpoena against Exxon until the oil giant’s countersuit against the AGs are settled.   • ILR Critiques ARC’s Consumer Litigation Funding Lobbying Efforts: ABA Journal notes ILR’s opposition to the lawsuit lending industry’s lobby efforts to shape legislation that is advancing in various states as relates to state usury laws. “The industry is trying to establish favorable precedent they can take around to other states,” said Bryan Quigley.
