Federal prosecutors are “increasingly looking to hit large corporations and their executives with criminal health fraud charges” that so far have mostly been brought against small businesses, a top official in the U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday at the American Health Lawyers Association annual meeting. Judge Robert Gerber of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan has asked for written briefs filed in the bankruptcy fight over whether “his approval of a 2009 sale of the so-called ‘old GM’ absolves ‘new GM’ from lawsuits brought by those who say their cars lost value because of the ignition switch defect.
