  • Burford Capital Announces Record Breaking Earnings, Again: U.K.-based litigation funder Burford Capital once again announced that it has surpassed previous earnings, reporting $52.8 million in first-half profits after taxes. This number is more than double the $23.7 million that the third-party funder earned during the first six months of 2015. (The American Lawyer)

 

  • New Faces of Lawsuit Abuse Video Highlighted:  The U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform’s (ILR) ‘Faces of Lawsuit’ abuse campaign has chosen to highlight a lawsuit filed in Chicago federal court against national coffee chain Starbucks for putting too much ice in an iced beverage, reports Illinois Business Daily. The story also notes the other suit featured in the Faces video: A suit alleging the coffee company puts too much steamed milk in its lattes. (Illinois Business Daily
