MasterCard Win Cools Funders’ Fever for UK Class Actions: Earlier this month, the U.K.’s Competition Appeal Tribunal found that consumer litigation against MasterCard over swipe fees couldn’t move forward as a class action. The ruling is a blow for litigation funder Burford Capital LLC, which had committed up to £40 million to the case. Now, funders are facing raised stakes and asking whether similar cases can gain traction. (Law360)
