  • ILR Lawsuit Climate Ranking Study Included in New State Business Climate Ranking Model: A new state business climate report includes the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform’s “State Liability Systems Survey” results in its model. The inaugural States’ Business Climate Index, which was developed by two Ball State professors, ranks states on a variety of business-related factors. The index also includes information from Chief Executive Magazine, CNBC, Forbes, George Mason University, Pollina Corporate Real Estate, and the Tax Foundation. (Inside Indiana Business
  • House-Passed Appropriations Bill  Would Curb CFPB’s Authority: The U.S. House has approved a fiscal year 2017 appropriations bill that “contains various provisions intended to curb the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) authority.” This includes funding the bureau through the annual congressional appropriations process “rather than through transfers from the Federal Reserve as currently provided by Dodd-Frank and change the CFPB’s leadership structure from a single Director to a five-member Board of Directors appointed by the President.” (CFPB Monitor
