  • Court Hearing CFPB Enforcement Action Challenge: Several years ago, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray ratified a CFPB enforcement action against Chance Gordon, an attorney that offered mortgage assistance relief services to his consumers. Gordon challenged this action on the grounds that Cordray was not the legal, Senate-approved director, since President Obama had appointed him during what the president believed was a Senate recess. This case is now being heard in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. (Cato Blog
