In The News Today – January 5, 2015

The New York Daily News calls for the ouster of Sheldon Silver as Speaker of the New York House, due to Silver’s failure to disclose his work for Goldberg & Iryam, “a law firm that specializes in disputing city tax bills on behalf of building owners.” Previously, Silver had listed only his work for Weitz & Luxenberg, “a major personal injury firm with a vested interest in blocking tort reform.” (New York Daily News)

In addition to “construction-defects reform” legislation, the Colorado legislature is also likely to consider “efforts to roll back discrimination-lawsuit awards against small business and rein in patent trolling.” (Denver Business Journal)
