Chiquita Brands International Inc. has informed a federal court that the company has “unearthed ‘disturbing evidence’ that suggests its adversaries may have paid tens of thousands of dollars to imprisoned Colombian paramilitary members to influence testimony in multidistrict litigation seeking to hold the company responsible for murders allegedly committed by the groups.” (Law360)

Nevada Assemblyman Ira Hansen, R-Sparks, chairman of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and a plumbing contractor, is expected to introduce a “right to repair” bill in which “contractors get a chance to make a defective repair right before being sued.” State Senator Greg Brower, R-Reno, is preparing a comprehensive tort reform package for introduction in the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he chairs.
