Will a Canadian Court’s Chevron Ruling be a Knockout Punch to Donziger?: Steven Donziger has been the force behind long-running litigation against Chevron on behalf of plaintiffs in Lago Agrio (LAP). Most recently, a Toronto court rejected Donziger’s bid to enforce a fraudulent $9.5 billion judgment in a “sober and extremely well-reasoned opinion.” Michael I. Krauss, law professor at Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, contemplated whether Donziger will finally be held accountable for “the fraudulent spoliation of American shareholders.” (ILR Blog)

TX Tort Reform Advocates Urge Hailstorm Lawsuit Reform: Texas homeowners will see higher insurance premiums or deductibles if state legislators do not curb alleged abuses relating to hailstorm lawsuits, according to Texans for Lawsuit Reform. State Sen. Kelly Hancock, chair of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, has been studying the issue over the last year. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick also has named hailstorm lawsuit reform a top priority. (Texas Business Daily)
